Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (*27 January 1756 in Salzburg–† 5 December 1791 in Wien), baptised as Joannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart, was a prolific and influential composer of the Classical era. Mozart showed prodigious ability from his earliest childhood. He usually signed his name as Wolfgang Amade/Amadè/Amadé Mozart. He was knighted by the Pope at the age of 14, giving him the right to the nobiliary prefix "von", but he rarely used it: a few examples are given at [1]. This article is under the name he is usually known by, though there is no record that he ever used it himself.
