Walter Kempner (*January 25th, 1903 in Berlin, Germany, † September 27th, 1997 in Durham, North Carolina, North Carolina, USA) was a German physician.
Life
Kempner was born as the youngest son of the physician Walter Kemper and the microbiologist Lydia Rabinowitsch-Kempner. His brother was the lawyer Robert Kempner. His sister Nadja Kempner died of tuberculosis in 1932. In 1934 Kempner emigrated to the USA. Walter Kempner is considered the inventor of the rice diet, which he developed at Duke University in 1939.
