The Sicherheitspolizei and SD was the office of the German Political Investigation (Sicherheitspolizei or Sipo) and the secret intelligence service (Sicherheitsdienst or SD), which were closely linked from the outset and made their appearance in all countries conquered by Germany during the Second World War.[1]
