Legacy (Magic: The Gathering)
Legacy is an official tournament format in the collectable card game called Magic: The Gathering, by Wizards of the Coast. It is one of the two eternal formats, that allows players to use cards of all the published sets (excluding cards with a deviant backside). In contrast to Vintage, Legacy bans all cards that are considered broken.
The Legacy format allows players to compete without the need to continuously buy new cards, while at the same time it does not force them to hunt for certain overly powerful, older cards that are extremely expensive.[1] Legacy does not have a restricted list (cards of which only one copy is allowed in a deck).
Legacy is a constructed format, which means that players build a deck from their own card collection that must contain at least 60 cards, and may have a sideboard of exactly 15 cards.
The Legacy format evolved from the now obsolete Type 1.5 format and was introduced by the DCI in 2004.
