Dispensationalism

(doctrine of dispensation) is the theological doctrine that God's dealings with man are different in different dispensations in time. Dispensations are also called 'dispensations'

The word 'dispensation' is derived from the Latin word dispensatio. That word was in turn used as a translation where the Greek Bible text has the word Oikonomia, the same term where the word economy comes from.
