Lamotrigine is an AED and antidepressant effective in focal epilepsies, such as rolandic epilepsy. [1]Lamotrigine has also been found effective in the treatment of bipolar disorder being more efficacious in treating the depressive phase of the illness. The exact mechanism by which lamotrigine acts as a mood stabilizer remains unclear[2] Lamotrigine inhibits the voltage-gated sodium and calcium channels[3] Rhabdomyolysis has been reported in a case of bipolar disorder by overdose of the lamotrigine [4]
