Life

Matthew George Easton studied at the University of Glasgow,[4] where he acquired his M.A. in 1843 and D.D. in 1874 on a biography of Krummacher.[4][5] He became pastor of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Scotland in Girvan.

He is best known for his Easton's Bible Dictionary, published three years after he died. Among his other works are English translations of German theological writings.

Family

Easton was married in 1849 to Anne Dobbie (1827–1904). Six children were born in their family: David (1850),[6] Isabella Colts (1852),[7] Lockhart Dobbie (1854),[8] Matthew George (1856), [9] Thomas (1859)[10] and Mary Lang (1862).[11]

George Easton was buried at the Darvel Old Cemetery, East Ayrshire, Scotland.[12] In 1904 his wife Anne Dobbie was placed in this same grave, as well as in 1919 their oldest son, David.[3]
