Zosenerdam
Zosenerdam was a village north of Amsterdam and lay on the IJ south of the current Nieuwendam. The village already existed in the Middle Ages, but was swallowed up in 1350 by a flood that broke a dike. A new dike and a new dam were built inland and Nieuwendam was created.[1]
