Sophora violacea Thwaites (syn. S.rubriflora Tsoong [2]) is an endemic Sophora from Ceylon Island, it also appears on Java. G. P. Jakovlev recognized two subspecies, namely S v subsp pilosa (Gagnep)Yakovlev (syn. S.exigua Craib.) [3]
