A '''monarchy''' is a government type where a [[country]] is ruled by a single leader, whose position is hereditary, although the actual power of the monarch may be reduced by a [[constitution]] or even be entirely symbolic. The leadership typically comes with a title, such as [[king]], [[prince]], or [[emperor]], which can be an indication of their relation to neighbouring monarchies and may be bestowed upon them by a [[coronation]] ceremony, often carried out by a representative of the prevailing [[religion]]. In historical perspective, a line of monarchs from the same family is called a [[dynasty]].
