Neurofeedback

also called neurotherapy, neurobiofeedback or EEG biofeedback (EEGBF), is a therapy in which brainwave activity is converted into images, sounds or vibrations. With the help of this "feedback" one could influence the brain activity through operant conditioning. Certain types of brainwaves are directly related to certain brain activities. The slow cortical waves, or the slow cortical potentials (SCP), appear to be related to sleep and relaxation, while the faster beta waves indicate concentration. The purpose of neurofeedback is to suppress the waves associated with a particular complaint and to reinforce the waves that reduce the complaint.
