Waverton station is a railway station serving the Sydney suburb of Waverton. It is on the North Shore railway line. The station is served by the T1 North Shore & Western Line and T9 Northern Line of the Sydney Trains network.

History

Waverton station opened on 1 May 1893 as Bay Road. It was renamed Waverton on 20 May 1929.[1][2][3][4]

When built, the North Shore railway line proceeded to the original Milsons Point station at Lavender Bay, where passengers would board ferries to travel across Sydney Harbour. With the opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the line was diverted via North Sydney station on 20 March 1932.[3]

The original line was retained to access the North Sydney Car Sidings next to Luna Park. A shunting neck is located behind Platform 2 for these services. In May 1993, an upgrade of the station was completed which included a new overbridge and canopies.[5]
