As of May 2019, Theresa May is the prime minister of the United Kingdom. A politican from the Conservative Party, she followed David Cameron, who had previously been prime minister and was also a Conservative. Because she moved into David Cameron’s position, she did not receive the office of prime minister due to being elected in a parliamentary election. Since she became prime minister, she has been in one general election, the 2017 UK parliamentary election.[1][2]

During May 2019, Theresa May made clear that she would soon be stepping down as prime minister.[3]
