Rome is the capital city of Italy, in the southern Mediterranean. It is known for its ancient Empire, the Roman Empire, which surrounded the Mediterranean Sea. The current city is around the Tiber River in the central part of Italy. The Roman Catholic Church is based in Rome.[1]
Important sights in Rome include the Colisseum, along with other Roman remains, like bridges.
