He was a neurologue and studied in St. Petersburg and at the University of Dorpat. From 1912 he worked in the clinic of nervous and mental diseases in Rostov-on-Don, from 1921 assistant, in 1923 he received the title of doctor of medicine. In 1925 he described the symptoms of the band, later called [[Cushing's syndrome]].
