The Hominidae or hominids is a family of primates which includes the great apes, [[Human|humans]] and some extinct forms. The exact contents of the family is sometimes questioned. Sometimes even the gibbons placed in this family, sometimes the orangutans are seen as a separate family. The Hominidae or hominids is a family of primates which includes the great apes, humans and some extinct forms. The exact contents of the family is sometimes questioned. Sometimes even the gibbons placed in this family, sometimes the orangutans are seen as a separate family. Here we followed the layout of the Hominidae by Cela-Conde & Ayala (2003[1]).
