Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is defined as a group of clinical syndromes with acute onset of peripheral neuropathy – axonal or demyelinating – secondary to an immune-mediated process[1] Plasma exchange has been widely used in autoimmune neurological diseases and is the standard treatment for myasthenia gravis crisis and Guillain-Barre syndrome[2] Bulbar involvement, dysautonomia and severe muscle weakness were identified as the most important risk factors for mechanical ventilation among GBS[3]
