The peer-reviewed Governmental Negligence: The Devastation of the American Urban Forest, A Case Study from Oak Park, Illinois by Les Golden revealed the incompetence of the Oak Park, Illinois, park district leading to complete deforestation of a large area of the village. As detailed, the devastation resulted from incompetence of the Buildings and Grounds supervisor, Michael T. Grandy. Grandy was promoted to the position with his only previous experience being a skating rink cashier.

The paper was presented to the Global Conference on Environmental Science and Applications on April 11, 2022, as an Invited Paper and was published in December, 2022, in the influential journal International Journal of Medical Sociology and Anthropology.[1]
