Frits Kaatee (Den Haag, 8 maart 1938) is een Nederlands saxofonist en klarinettist. | |||
Het eerste muziekinstrument waarop hij serieus les kreeg was de accordeon. Hij was toen 11 jaar oud. Toen hij 14 jaar was, maakte Frits zijn debuut voor een stampvolle zaal in de Haagse Dierentuin. Naar aanleiding van dit succes zijn de "Sunny Boys". ontstaan. De Sunny Boys raakten helemaal in de ban van de dixielandmuziek vooral van de Dutch Swing College Band en besloten daarom de accordeons te vervangen door trompet, trombone en klarinet. De band kreeg een nieuwe naam "The Stork Town Dixie Kids" Frits Kaatee maakte in 1956 zijn eerste plaat opname met de band. | |||
