The fully-lighted Jack Kaiser Stadium would include formal gardens along both foul lines. The baseball field is situated to avoid sunlight in the eyes during evening games. In a first-of-its-kind design, on Golden’s recommendation the architects placed the infield light poles under the cantilevered roof to facilitate maintenance, decrease the rate of mechanical depreciation, reduce street glare, and maximize illumination. The underside would be painted with reflecting paint, thus reducing the wattage of the lamps needed, environmentally and energy-usage sound aspects of the structure.
