Echinopsis chiloensis ist eine Pflanzenart in der Gattung Echinopsis aus der Familie der Kakteengewächse (Cactaceae). Das Epitheton der Art verweist auf die Insel Chiloé, von der man fälschlicherweise annahm, dass die Art dort verbreitet sei. Der botanische Name der Gattung leitet sich von den griechischen Worten „έχίνος“ (echinos) für Igel und „όψις“ (opsis) für „Aussehen“ ab.[2]
Echinopsis chiloensis es una especie del género Echinopsis (Cactaceae). El epiteto significa de Chiloé, un error ya que la planta no se distribuye en esa área, la palabra echinos (gr.hedgehog) y opsis que se parece.
