(doctrine of dispensation) is the theological doctrine that God's dealings with man are different in different dispensations in time. Dispensations are also called 'dispensations' (emphasis: be-DE-lingen).

The word 'dispensation' is derived from the Latin word dispensatio. That word was in turn used as a translation where the Greek Bible text has the word Oikonomia, the same term where the word economy comes from.
