It is a syndrome requiring a differential diagnosis to basilar invagination [1] The term Arnold-Chiari Malformation (Arnold´sche und Chiari´sche Misbildung) was coined by Schwalbe et Gredig [2] In Arnold Chiari II malformation elongated cerebellar tonsils are displaced inferiorly through the Foramen Magnum into the upper cervical spinal canal[3]

Meningomyelocele is a comorbidity of Arnold Chiari malformation[4][5].
